Showcase Your Home

With HGTV and all the home improvement shows on TV, I am amazed at the poor condition of many homes currently for sale these days. Below are some helpful hints that I have discovered:

Buyer prefer neutral-colored paint and carpets.

You will eliminate many potential buyers if wall or carpets are bold colors. It his is your case simply replace carpets and repaint walls before you put your house on the market. I understand it is cosmetic and you would think that if a buyer does not like the color, they could simply change it later. Guess what? Buyers generally want a move-in ready home.

Fix things that are broken.

Please do not wait until your home inspection. If something is broken, fix it. Buyers will reject your home if they think you are not taking good care of it.

Put away your family photos, art-work and trophies, and start packing.

Leave walls open so buyers can picture themselves in the home. You are moving anyway, so start packing Do not go overboard on candles and scented potpourri etc. Not everyone loves strong aromas. Fresh and clean air is preferred by most people Keep your home clean at all times as you may not be able to straighten up the home before a short-notice showing
